The online blizzcon of 2022 is canceled and you probably know why

Eve Online is a massively multiplayer online game (MMORPG) taking place in the space, developed by the Icelandic company CCP. Players of Eve Online can incarnate in several professions and activities, including mining, piracy, spatial or global industry, trade (fully managed by players in space stations), the Exploration and combat (player against environment and player against player). The game has a total of 7,800 planet systems that players can explore. Renowned for its magnitude and complexity with respect to the interactions of players, in a unique and shared game world, the game offers a commitment to an unplanned economic competition, wars and political stratagems with and against other players. The massacre in M2-XFE, at the end of December 2020 and early 2021, by its two close battles involving more than 13,000 players around three stars systems, is the most important and most expensive battle in the story of the game. Eve Online has been exposed to MOMA by a video including historical events and players achievements. In February 2013, EVE Online reached more than 500,000 subscribers. November 11, 2016, the game added a free alpha version limited alpha. The full access version is named omega. Eve Online is available on Windows and Mac OS X, in English, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (on a server separate for this last language). The French translation has been available since September 30, 2014.

Beginning 2022 was Supposition to attend a very special Blizzard event: blizzconline. The previous years have not been very favorable to the Blizzcon, since they had to go to an online environment - but the transition to an online world is not, in itself, a kind of glas for a Game event. Valve recently encountered this problem with its tournament at Dota 2 invitation - formerly conceived as a gathering in person, a peak of Covid meant that the event was to be canceled at the last minute and move on to an online environment. While Blizzard had clearly intended to do something similar, they will not even go so far: a recent blog article announced that there would be no blizzcon 2022 - nothing in person, nothing online, Nothing at all.

According to the message: Every Blizzcon event takes each of us to come true, an effort of the entire company, fueled by our desire to share what we create with the community to which we hold so much. At present, we believe that the energy it would need to organize a show like this is better oriented towards the support of our teams and the progression of the development of our games and our experiences. »

Hearthstone at BlizzCon 2017: Opening Ceremony

The general theme of the article seems to suggest that Covid s concerns are a leading cause of closing an event like this, although a lack of explicit references gives way to speculation. And when such opportunity arises, it s hard to say no.

The precedents of the Blizzcon have experienced their fair share of controversy - the famous Is it a joke of the April foolfish out of season? The line comes to mind. And with Blizzard always in the middle of ongoing investigations, it is likely that they do not want to point the spotlight on their brand for the moment. By keeping things centered on the game, ads are less likely to be tainted reminders of sexual misconduct and harassment.

At the very least, Blizzard game fans can always expect the usual content of content they would see at a BlizzCon event. The blog post adds: Even if we do not organize BlizzConline in February, we will continue to make ads and updates for our games. We are proud of our teams and progress they have made in our games. We have a lot of news and communications coming exciting to share with you. »
